AUCTION OF ONE OF PEAS TUNDURU EARN TSH. 466,623,690.00

The first auction for the sale of peas in Tunduru district in Ruvuma region was held today, August 12, 2021 through the Warehouse Receipt System where the auction was held in Mtonya village, Mtetesi Primary Party in Tunduru district and the total amount raised through the auction is Shillings. 466,623,690.00.

Ruumi Assistant Co-ordinator of Ruvuma Region, Bumi Masuba, said the total number of kilograms on the market today was 360,351 and the average price per farmer was 1,294.16 shillings before the levy. In addition, buyers bought with the following analysis: Mohammed Enterprise 150,000 kg at a price of Shs 1,300 equivalent to Shs 195,000,000.00; RBST International 210,251 kg at a price of Shs. 1,290 equivalent to Shs. 271,623,690.00 thus making the total amount deposited in Tunduru to be Shs. 466,623,690.00.

The total levy per farmer is Tshs 52 / off and transport depending on the distance per kilometer. Thus, for every (1) kg the farmer receives more than Sh1,200 directly into his account.

Today's auction removes the propaganda that the Ruvuma region has decided that peas should be bought through the Warehouse Receipts System to hurt the farmer as farmers who have been accused of agreeing to sell their peas to speculators, have decided to sell between 300 and 600 shillings per 1 kg of peas .

This is another proof that, when produce is sold in Warehouse Receipts, the farmer is moved to the direct market of the major buyers who are also dependent on the speculators who buy from the farmers.

Ruvuma regional officials including the Regional Commissioner and District Commissioners of the region deserve congratulations for continuing to defend the Ruvuma farmer for their effective management.
